In this week's magazine, he reveals: "For sure, I have seen Egon's win in 1983, it is always popping up on YouTube. My uncle Tommy Dunker raced against him for a long time. So I have seen and know all the history of Germany in speedway. It's 50/50 how people think of Egon in Germany. Some people hated that he became World Champion. But what he did for speedway in Germany for me was very important. Hopefully I can be that rider to take Germany to the top again after waiting 40 years. But I think that's a dream for every single rider. I think it would be even better to be the second German World Champion. I need to reach the GPs first then think about being World Champion!"

AUSTRALIAN Justin Sedgmen has been impressing in his homeland this winter with some impressive results Down Under – and is finally putting the pandemic nightmare of 2020 well and truly behind him. Stranded in the UK that summer, he recalls: "To be honest, at the time, I didn't really feel like it was going to stay like that and always be that bad. Obviously it was a pretty rubbish time. I just wasn’t allowed to ride speedway. I was in a very unfortunate and bad position and I couldn't actually go home either. I could have returned to Australia if I'd wanted to spend a lot of money and stay in hotels because at the time there were still pandemic isolation restrictions in place. "It's funny, I keep seeing on Facebook my Grand Prix final win over Greg and Jason. That video clip is on so much. That was obviously a special moment and something I'll never forget. "I'm a big believer that everything happens for a reason and when the time is right, my time will come and I can qualify," he says. "Everybody I've talked to that's been in the series says it's a whole different ball game at that level. You can be consistently beating these guys and doing well in the leagues, then go to the Grand Prix and it will be a whole different story. IPSWICH'S new signing Keynan Rew reckons he's "pretty lucky" to be heading to Britain to join the Witches this summer after 'only' cracking bones in his spine in a crash Down Under in December. The teenager reveals in this week's magazine: "It was a bit of a racing incident in Brisbane. I guess it comes with the sport sadly, it was at the end of the year just before Christmas for my time off and the holiday season. It could have definitely been worse at a different time of the season and coming back to Europe. I went into the fence without an airfence which wasn't ideal. I've had a few big crashes in my career but I didn't really know what was wrong, I knew there was something in the middle of my back. I've had worse pain before... but I just felt I should go to the hospital and have it checked. It was better to be safe."
