LUKE Harrison won a three-man run-off to clinch the British Under-19 Championship at Workington on Saturday.
The Scunthorpe and King's Lynn rider finished level on 12 points after 20 heats with Jody Scott and Cooper Rushen, his team-mates in the Young Stars NDT side. But it was Harrison who took the chequered flag in the race-off to improve on his runners-up position in the meeting in 2024. The trio were handed the opportunity of a run-off after Workington's Vinnie Foord seized an engine as he led Heat 19, a result which would have seen him crowned champion on 13 points. Harrison said afterwards: “It’s good to finally do it, after last year when I came second after it was rained-off, and coming so close in the Under-21s and not quite making it in the Final. “To get the Under-19s this year was a big thing for me.” • Full coverage from Workington in this week's Speedway Star.
