MICHAEL Jepsen Jensen is on his way back to Britain to join Birmingham.
The 32-year-old Dane, a former World Under-21 Champion (2012) and Grand Prix winner (at Vojens in 2012), last raced in this country for Coventry in 2014. He has also worn Peterborough colours. He raced in Poland’s PGE Ekstraliga for Grudziadz last season and will now form a new heat leader spearhead at Birmingham alongside Tobiasz Musielak and Matej Zagar. Brummies CEO Nigel Tolley said: “As we’ve made public knowledge recently, as a management team, we were very keen to do everything we could to add a genuine, quality heat leader to our starting line-up. “We looked far and wide, drew up a shortlist and following a combination of things, we whittled the list down bit-by-bit. “We’re delighted to have Michael as a Birmingham rider and again, we feel he will complement the rest of our team well. “Anyone who has seen him at any point during his career will know what a real talent he is and while it has been a while since he raced in the UK, we know what he is capable of. “Speaking to him throughout the negotiations, you can really sense his hunger and he has some really big aspirations for 2025. “We’re looking forward to seeing how he settles in at Perry Barr and he’s someone who has got what it takes to push to be a No. 1 in this league. “We now know what avenue we want to go down to complete our starting one-to-seven and hopefully we’ll be able to finalise that in the coming days.”
