FORMER England manager Len Silver has died at the age of 92.
An ex-rider who raced for Ipswich and Exeter until retiring following injury in 1964, Silver was best known as a promoter at Hackney and Rye House in the 1970s and 80s. In more recent years, he was instrumental in launching speedway at Sittingbourne’s Central Park in 2013. He had two spells as Great Britain/England manager and became the second inductee into British Speedway’s Hall of Fame in 2021. A full tribute to Len will appear in Speedway Star’s October 26 edition. PICTURE: GEOFF YOUNG
