IPSWICH and Sheffield both have injury worries ahead of the start of the Sports Insure Premiership play-offs.
The Witches have booked Chris Harris to deputise for Jason Doyle (pictured) in Monday night’s semi-final at Belle Vue after the Australian was taken to hospital following his frightening crash with Freddie Lindgren during the Danish Grand Prix at Vojens. The Suffolk club have also called up Jack Smith from Belle Vue’s own Colts team in the National Development League to replace the injured Dan Thompson at reserve. Witches team manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “After his awful crash, it is great news that Doyley has nothing broken but he is feeling pretty second hand after one hell of a whack. “He is not in a fit enough position to race at Belle Vue and Chris comes in as a guest. We all know Bomber very well and you know what you are getting, and I'm sure he will do a great job. “Belle Vue have been the outstanding team in the league, and they are the reigning champions and have been the best team so far. We are going to need to be at the top of our game but over the two legs if we perform as we can do, we can win, cause a shock and knock them out.” Meanwhile, Sheffield, who have already seen Jack Holder and then Tai Woffinden sidelined by injury, will now have to contend with the loss of Tobiasz Musielak as well in their semi-final against Wolverhampton. The Pole will miss the rest of the season after breaking his tibia in a crash at Zielona Gora during the Polish Division One play-offs on Sunday.
