LEICESTER'S move up into the Premiership was rubberstamped at this week's promoters' AGM in Coventry.
It means the top flight will have seven teams in 2023, with the Championship contested by nine teams following the news that Edinburgh are set to continue at Armadale. The main rule changes for next season involve the return of a bonus point for an aggregate league win over the home and away matches, plus an extension to the Super Heat draws scenario introduced to the Premiership this year, which will now apply to the Championship as well. Matches ending in a draw on the night will go to a Super Heat race-off, as will any aggregate ties. Match points will now be two for a win and nothing for a defeat, with draws resulting in two points for the Super Heat winners and one for the losers. There will be one bonus point awarded to the aggregate winners following home/away matches. "¢ Don't miss next week's Speedway Star for a full round-up of the AGM developments.
