FORMER World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik is closing in on regaining his title after winning the Danish Grand Prix in Vojens on Saturday night.
The Polish star, who was World No. 1 in 2019 and 2020, has moved 20 points clear of Leon Madsen at the top of the standings with just two rounds to go. Zmarzlik led home Britain's Robert Lambert, his nearest challenger Madsen and fellow countryman Patryk Dudek in the final to seal his second GP victory of the season. The result means he could clinch this year's World Championship in round nine at Swedish track Malilla next Saturday. Zmarzlik said: "I am very happy about this result. I am very happy with the final. The heats were so hard for me, but the semi-final was good. After the semi-final, I was looking good for the final. "I won from a really hard gate. There was only one other winner from gate three. I am happy." After back-to-back podium finishes, Lambert has surged up to fifth in the standings and is within five points of Dan Bewley in third.
