FORMER Arena-Essex rider Robert Ledwith is in line for a surprise return to league racing next year with National League Kent.
The 46-year-old turned out in The Laurels individual meeting at Central Park on Monday night, the Kings’ final meeting of the season, having not raced competitively since the mid-90s. After watching Ledwith record three wins in a 10-point tally, Kent promoter Len Silver said: “I was amazed at the way Robert performed, particularly when it is considered that it was the first time he had ridden a bike with the modern lay-down engine. “In performing as he did, showing guts and speed, he rode his way into a team place for next season. His joy at being offered the place was a joy itself.”
