EDINBURGH will welcome former Monarch William Lawson (pictured) back into their ranks for the rest of the season.
The former World Under-21 finalist and British Under-18 Champion retired in 2010 and has not raced competitively since then, but has been practising this summer and took part in a couple of open meetings. He will take the place of Max Clegg in the Monarchs' team. Edinburgh promoter John Campbell said: "We've tried several times to get William back on a bike and now it is happening. "¨ "He was practising at Berwick on Saturday and told me that his arms were feeling sore, but I assured him that he won't be riding two successive races in five minutes on a 400-metre track while he's with us. "¨ "We have been aware in the short time he has been back with us that Max Clegg is very low on confidence."
