JASON Doyle warmed up for the opening Grand Prix of the season in Warsaw this weekend by winning the Premiership Riders’ Championship for the second time.
The Somerset star, who won the title in 2015 in its previous guise as the Elite League Riders’ Championship, finished joint top of the qualifying scorechart at Poole on Wednesday night alongside Swindon’s Troy Batchelor. Doyle won the final with ease from Batchelor, Hans Andersen in third and Brady Kurtz fourth. The World Champion said: “To get back on the top step and enjoy my racing again is a nice way to start the year, especially after a tough couple of weeks. “I am trying to have fun but that hasn’t been the case, I have been putting too much pressure on myself to be the World Champion and score as many points as possible. “We had to rethink our strategy and focus on enjoying things. Maybe when you ride for yourself there is only one person to disappoint. When you ride in the league and don’t score well you can make the team lose. “It was very pleasing to have a good meeting in Sweden last night (Tuesday), get the monkey off my back and start scoring well.”
