TATE Zischke’s season is over after the Australian sustained serious injuries in a crash on his debut for Premiership Belle Vue on Monday night.
The Workington rider has been detained in hospital after fracturing seven vertebrae and five ribs when he hit the fourth bend fence during the Aces’ home win over Ipswich. He also suffered a posterior injury and has already undergone surgery. Workington team manager James Denham said: “I’m afraid Tate’s season is over and he’s waiting to see now what treatment is required. Everyone here at Workington Speedway would like to wish Tate a speedy recovery. He is now on that road to recovery and is in good spirits – we are all sure he will come back even stronger!” Zischke said: “It’s going to be a long, bumpy road to recovery. I will spend the coming weeks in hospital fighting to get better each day. It has been a rough few days so far, but we will keep fighting. “I want to let everyone know this crash was 100 per cent a racing incident, and nobody is at fault.”
