CHAMPIONSHIP newcomers Kent have finalised their one-to-seven for the 2020 season with the signings of Paul Starke (pictured), Nico Covatti and Dan Gilkes.
They join the previously signed Scott Nicholls, Cameron Heeps, Rob Ledwith and Tom Bacon for the inaugural season of second tier racing at Central Park. Starke switches from one end of the country to the other after spending this year with Glasgow, whilst Italian Covatti was on Somerset’s books. Kings co-promoter Len Silver said: “I am looking forward to getting to know Nico whose reputation as an all-action, never-give-up racer appeals to me. He is highly recommended by Scott Nicholls and I think the Kent fans will love him. “Paul comes back into my arena which I am delighted about. I worked with him at Rye House in his early career when I recognised his classy potential. “His pure enthusiasm to become a King made his addition very easy to achieve once Somerset agreed to his release, and I thank Garry May from the Rebels for that.” Gilkes, meanwhile, makes the step up from the Kings’ National League side and said: “It will be a challenging year ahead with lots of learning, but one that with the continued support I am sure will be another fantastic opportunity for me and the team to progress together. “To learn from Scott Nicholls is something that does not come to you every day. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn, gain knowledge and experience from the seven-time British Champion and ex Grand Prix rider.”
